Here is the answer :)

There is a Lightweight Operating System designed for such low-power machines and it is called: Lubuntu

After installing Lubuntu 14.04 LTS on the above notebook, I have done a test to check how many 'seconds' the machine needs to boot into the desktop and here is the results of my test:

From Power ON to the Login Screen where you enter your password to login to the system:

30 seconds ONLY

After typing the password and from pressing Enter to a fully working desktop:

15 seconds only

That means, this machine needs NO more than 45 seconds from the moment you turn it on to the moment you can start working on your desktop.

Shutting Down the machine needs no more than:

6 seconds only

And it does not matter how many applications you're running 'before' you shut it down, it will shutdown in less than 6 seconds.

Both Screenshots are showing the same state: machine idle sitting on the desktop doing nothing.

So, what exactly am I trying to say here?

Long story short, if you have such machine at your home or you have a friend who has similar machine or a colleague ... show this post to them and if they will NOT believe that? send them to ITA Team and we shall explain to them and answer any question they may have :)

From the screenshots and the memory usage for both Windows and Lubuntu, it shows that Lubuntu works 10 times better, faster, less, etc than Windows on that machine.
